BANANA AVOCADO TUMERIC SMOOTHIE

This smoothie is a little ugly, but so delicious- I tried everything to make it look pretty, I even thought the gold rimmed exotic cup could make it look better, but there is nothing I can do about the unusual colour.

An odd greenish, mustard colour. I know, let's not call it mustard, the colour is gold with a touch of green-

And we like green....

Let's ignore colour and focus on taste and our health: The avocado gives it amazing silkiness and provides some healthy monounsaturated fats, but if you don't have a ripe avocado, just make it without it and

reduce the water by 1/4 cup.

I love to get at least 1 teaspoon of tumeric powder into my body every day. I believe it does wonders to ones memory!  Here is an article on the turmeric for health website that explains the benefits of this potent spice.

You may add a 1/4 teaspoon of freshly ground pepper (I use whole peppercorns and whizz them in the food processor) which will boost the absorption of the tumeric!

I add some sugar free peanut butter and a table spoon of brown rice protein. I find the rice protein makes me feel fuller for a little bit longer. I tried pea protein, but did not enjoy the taste of it. You can smell the difference between those 2 proteins if you get a chance to smell before you buy. I recommend the brown rice protein if in doubt.

If you are in Australia and you are close to a source bulk food shop, you can go and smell before you buy....

The milk I use is unsweetened almond milk and I add water for a less thick consistency.

What ever you do, do not add sugar. This is not a sweet smoothie as you know it from your local milk bar.

Since I got rid of my sugar "addiction" I don't mind it not being sweet. If you are not used to consuming no sugar, add a fresh date or 1/8 tsp ground stevia powder. However, I tried it with one date and it was sooo sweet, I struggled drinking it. If you are on a mission to quit sugar, don't give up.

After a few weeks you will not like it anymore...
